4 suspects arrested for vote-buying in Bulacan

MEYCAUAYAN, Philippines - Police arrested 4 men, including a barangay councilor, for allegedly buying votes in Barangay Bagbagin, Hulo, Sto. Niño, Meycauayan, Bulacan.

Investigators recovered from the 4 suspects a bag containing cash and identification cards for the Changes Meycauayan Movement.

Police also found a bank document for P80,000 in the bag. The document also showed the amount was divided into P20, P100 and P500 denominations.

Investigators think this is the original amount the 4 suspects were carrying before police picked them up.

Only P7,200 is left of the P80,000, police added.

The 4 men vehemently denied they were buying votes in the barangay when police arrested them.

Police are continuing to investigate to determine who else is involved in the alleged vote-buying incident.

The 4 suspects will be charged of vote buying, which is a violation of the Omnibus Election Code.
